Hello, site visitor! My, you are one tenacious individual. Thank you for your interest, your commitment, and your passion. I finally have an update for you. But the news, unfortunately, isn’t necessarily good….

The future of this site is currently uncertain. I don’t know how necessary it is for me to leave it here, without regular updates, which I am obviously not writing right now. I can’t remember why I thought this site was a good idea in the first place. I guess I was hoping to catalogue my thoughts in the hopes of one day selling a book.

All of this is my way of saying that 1. there are currently no updates and 2. I’m thinking about taking the site down or changing it into something else entirely.

I’m pseudo-hibernating these days. I get up in the morning, make an OK effort for a few hours, swill a cup of coffee or two, etc. Then I go to the gym, eat lunch, listen to CBC, take a nap, and suddenly, it’s somehow evening already. Two or three days turn into a week; the weeks turn into months, and so forth. I’m peeling off calendar pages at an alarming rate of speed.

I go to bed early. I sleep a little longer than I need to sleep these days. Maybe I’m depressed. Or maybe I’m afraid of something. Maybe both.

Probably both.

I have ingredients for two or three more podcasts that I’ve recorded, but I have yet to process them. Anyway, I’m mulling everything over right now.

I thought you should know that.

Thanks again for your beautiful support. It means a lot to me, truly.

  1. Hope you find what you’re looking for soon, Scott. I think the biggest thing is that you keep writing, whether it’s here or somewhere else entirely. You’ve got a great talent for telling a story.

Looking forward to wherever you pop up next.

  2. I get it – since I’ve been retired (due to health issues), I often follow a similar pattern. You’ve just got to kick yourself to keep going. I enjoy your writing, wit, outlook – I know I’m not the only one. Try & set yourself a schedule to update on (even if it’s just monthly). Sometimes getting back to living is a lot like going swimming – you’ve just got to dive in!!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Wishing you the best!

  3. Scott Jones! Do what makes you happy, but like Jbumi said, just dive in. Thanks for sharing, and as always I look forward to seeing what you get up to next.

I know sometimes it’s hard to figure out what makes you happy, so here are examples of things that work for me:
    – female companionship (for me it’s one in particular, but not sure what your status is for that)
    – visiting friends
    – coffee (alone or with friends)
    – going for a run on the trail
    – listening to podcasts
    – trying different beer
    – seeing new places
    – making and eating dinner with others
    – planning a thing (dinner, a trip somewhere, home rennovation, my next career, where I’m going to be living next year, etc.)
    – looking at the junk flyers that show up in the mail and pretending like I’m going to buy stuff

  4. It kinda sucks having the long breaks in between posts, but when you do, it’s always entertaining! Please keep the site going, even if you only post now and then.

  5. Hey Scott,
As someone likes to pop by here every once in a while, your updates will be missed. I hope you keep writing, and in particular, I hope you find something your passionate to write about. I enjoyed your pov on EP (mostly via Vic’s basement), but it seemed that the gaming / entertainment industry wasn’t holding your interest as strongly as it had in the past.
It’s easy to slip into depressive tendencies when work is scarce, I know, but I’m glad you’re still keeping up with a health routine. It seems weird for me to have a vested interest in a stranger, but I suppose that’s a testament to the appeal of your work.
Hope to see more of your writing soon, here or published elsewhere. And I second the comment above regarding a long overdue Vic’s Basement appearance!

  6. Thanks for the update. I was wondering how you were doing since ep went off the air. It’s funny how seeing somebody on tv everyday, can make you miss them even though you dont know them personally. I wish you the best of luck going forward, you’re a talented writer and critic, so whatever you do next I’ll look for it. Take Care

  7. It’s always good to hear from you. I say keep the site going and update whenever the inspiration hits. It’s so nice to hear from you directly and intimately via this forum. Best of luck to you in whatever you do!

  8. People like your writing Scott. It’s probably what you do best.

Self confidence tends to come from things you do best. Everything else follows from that confidence.

That doesn’t mean it always works to that end. Sometimes, for the time being, nothing helps.

I’ve been reading you for years and I know you sometimes talk like you’ve lost a step. But to me your writing has only gotten more interesting and entertaining. Even bordering on surreal despite often writing about everyday stuff. That takes something and you have that something.

No matter what, keep your work and keep in touch with your readers.

  9. Mr. Jones,
As much as I can understand where you’re coming from in not knowing how relevant the site is without regular updates, don’t you dare shut this down! It’s one of the few places where we can get our fix. Even if it is sporadic.
You’re an incredible writer, sir. Your stories are both entertaining and captivating.
Can the long breaks between posts be rough? Sure. But ultimately, they’re fine. We’re all still here, ready to read whatever and whenever you’re ready to share something more.
I sincerely hope you keep this site up and running.

  10. I love your words, Scott. You know how to tell a story and we always need more storytellers.

Whatever you end up doing, you’ll have my undivided attention. Much love.

  11. You will be missed Scott. I started reading this site when you first started, I don’t visit often because I enjoy reading in bulk. it’s been a great run of content. I wish you luck on whatever you decide to do next!
